4-5. Using the driving support systems

The range at which obstacles can be detected is as follows. However,
note that the sensors cannot detect obstacles that are extremely close
to the vehicle.
Depending on the shape of the obstacles or the conditions, the dis-
tance covered by the sensors can be reduced or in some cases the
sensors are no longer able to detect an obstacle.

Operating condition
The sensor operates when all the following conditions are satisfied.
When the engine switch is turned in IGNITION ON mode.
When the shift lever is in the R position
Alarm given when reverse sensor is malfunctioning
When the followings happen, the reverse sensor is malfunctioning.
When the shift lever is placed in the R position with the engine switch set to
IGNITION ON mode, the buzzer does not sound for about one second.
The buzzer sounds for the presence of an obstacle when no obstacle is
sensed.
