7-2. Steps to take in an emergency

When trouble arises
Firmly tighten each wheel nut
two or three times in the order
shown in the illustration.
Tightening torque:
103 N·m (10.5 kgf·m, 76 ft·lbf)
Do not use other tools or any addi-
tional leverage other than your
hands, such as a hammer, pipe or
your foot.
Stow all tools.
Place the tire with the wheel
side facing upward and hook
the anchor plate to the tire.

Raise the tire.
Insert the jack handle end
into the screw.
Tighten the screw using the
jack handle
Make sure that the tire is moving
up straight.
When the tire is lifted halfway
through, reconfirm that the chain is
properly fit inside the hole of the
tire.
