Parking and Storage

Storage
At the end of the season, the machine should be prepared for storage:
Carry out the following:
• Clean the machine thoroughly.
→ »Cleaning« page 54
• Change the oil in all the machine's transmissions.
→ »Lubricants« page 134
• The hydraulic quick coupling should either be covered with a dust
cap or placed in a small plastic bag.
• The PTO shaft should be cleaned, oiled and stored somewhere dry
so as to avoid damage or corrosion.
• Always check that the machine's safety equipment is not worn or
damaged.
• Always park the machine with the cutting unit lowered and its
wheels on the ground.
If the machine's cutting unit is parked in the raised position for a
prolonged period, there is a risk that the cutting unit may sink unevenly
in the machine's hydraulic cylinder. This will cause problems when the
machine's hydraulic system is coupled to the tractor.
→ »Checking the cutting unit« page 39
• Bleed as much excess hydraulic pressure from the cylinders and
hoses as possible.
• Place the machine in a ventilated machine room.
• Both of the machine's wheel axles should be supported on blocks
so that the wheels are lifted off the ground.
Safety
The machine must be secured when parked
The machine must be correctly secured when parked in storage.
Properly secured machines prevent serious accidents.
If the machine is not correctly secured when parked, this may result in
serious or fatal injuries.
When parking you must therefore make sure that:
• The machine is parked upon a stable, horizontal surface.
• The machine's cutting unit is completely lowered or the wheels are
on the ground.
• Excess pressure in the hydraulic system must be released.
• The machine must be secured to prevent rolling.
• No persons must be allowed near the machine.
