Filling and venting the heating system
!
Please note
Unsuitable fill water increases
the level of deposits and corro-
sion and may lead to boiler
damage.
Flush the heating system thor-
oughly before filling.
Only use water of potable
water quality. The total con-
centration of calcium Ca
2+
and
magnesium Mg
2+
in the fill
water must not exceed
450 mg/l.
In areas with water hardness
> 450 mg/l a water softening
system must be installed.
Softening systems for heating
water are available from
Viessmann.
The pH value of the fill water
should be between 6.5 and
8.5.
Special antifreeze suitable for
heating systems can be
added to the fill water. The
antifreeze manufacturer must
verify its suitability.
When using a means of water
treatment, always use prod-
ucts from the following manu-
facturers:
Fernox (www.fernox.com)
Scalemaster (www. scale-
master.co.uk)
Calmag (www.calm-
agltd.com)
Sentinel (www.sentinel-solu-
tions.net)
1. Check the pre-charge pressure of
the diaphragm expansion vessel
(see page 53).
2. Close the gas shut-off valve.
3. Turn ON the system ON/OFF
switch on the control unit.
