Part 2: Installing the Air Tank and Lines
2.1 Installing the tank mounts and the tank
The tank mounts supplied with this system are designed so that they can be mounted on the frame
without drilling holes. They are also adjustable so that the tank can be positioned more precisely.
Figure 11 shows the components of the tank mounts.
Figure 11
The top frame clamp fits over the top of the vehicle frame. It is attached to the bottom frame clamp
with two (2) hex head cap screws. The cap screws fit through a slotted hole in the bottom frame
clamp. This allows you to adjust the height of the frame clamps to match the size of the frame.
The tank support bracket is also attached to the bottom frame clamp with two (2) hex head cap
screws which fit through a slotted hole in the bottom frame clamp. This allows you to adjust the
position of the tank support bracket for more accurate alignment and positioning of the tank.
The clamps are tightened securely onto the frame using a long hex head cap screw threaded into a
coupling nut. The coupling nut threads into the top frame clamp. Loctite is used to prevent the
coupling nut and stud assembly from coming loose. They are tightened using the jam nut on the
stud.
The mounting clamps are mirrored, in that the tank support brackets are on the inside of the frame
mounting brackets.
