Start and stop the engine
The ignition and start button replaces the
ignition lock (Press & Drive).
If the vehicle is to be used temporarily or for a
short period of time abroad, please observe the
relevant instructions.
Some countries have special safety regulations and
provisions that the vehicle may not comply with.
Before travelling abroad, Volkswagen recommends
that you ask your Volkswagen dealer about the
legal regulations in your destination country.
If the vehicle is to be sold in another country or
used in another country for a longer period of time,
please observe the legal provisions in force in the
country in question.
In some cases, it may be necessary to install or
dismantle certain equipment at a later date and to
deactivate certain functions. The assemblies and
types of services may also be affected. This may be
particularly the case if the vehicle is to be used in
a different climate region for a longer period of
time.
Due to the different frequency bands around the
world, the factory-fitted infotainment system may
not work in another country.

the vehicle caused by poor fuel quality,
insufficient workmanship or availability.

Problems and solutions
/ Fault in the brake system
The warning lamp lights up red. A message
may also be displayed.
Do not continue
driving!
- Inform a specialist workshop and ask for the
brake system to be checked.

Front brake pads are worn.

If the braking performance of the vehicle changes

vehicle no longer brakes as usual (sudden

The engine is started with an on/start button and the
brake pedal depressed.
The vehicle only works if there is a valid key in the
vehicle.
Switching the ignition on and off
Press the ignition button once and start the engine
without depressing the brake or clutch pedal.

Automatic ignition cut-off
If the vehicle detects that the driver is absent with
the combustion engine switched off, the ignition is
automatically switched off after a certain time.
Engine restart function
If no valid key is detected in the passenger
compartment after the engine has been switched
off, the engine can be restarted within approx. 5
