Unlocking, opening or closing the tailgate
improperly or carelessly can lead to accidents
and serious injuries.

Only open or close the tailgate when there is
no one in the area of the tailgate.
•
After closing the tailgate, make sure that it is
properly closed. The tailgate must be flush
with the adjacent parts.

Never open the tailgate if there is cargo, e.g.

the tailgate and all doors. When doing so,
make sure that no one is left behind.

Automatic deactivation of the sensitive surfaces
The sensor surfaces are deactivated in the following

To reactivate the sensor surfaces:

Unlock the vehicle by pressing on the vehicle
key.
The sensing surfaces of the door handles could be
activated by a jet of water.

open and the sensing surfaces of one of the handles
are permanently activated, all windows shall be
closed.

If the 12-volt battery is low on charge
If the battery in the vehicle's key is
discharged, or the button battery in the vehicle's
key is almost empty or exhausted, it may not be
possible to unlock or lock the vehicle with the
Keyless Access system. The vehicle can be
unlocked and locked manually.

If there is no valid vehicle key inside the
vehicle or the system does not detect it,

Luggage compartment door
The tailgate is unlocked and locked together with
the doors.

If the tailgate is unlocked or opened
inappropriately or without due care, serious
injury may result.

If a luggage rack with a luggage carrier is
mounted on the tailgate, it is not always
possible to see whether the tailgate is without a
luggage compartment.
