Infotainment system and antennas
Some electronic components, such as the
infotainment system, and some control units
are factory-fitted with a component pro-
tection.
•
Never repair the air conditioning evaporator
with parts removed from end-of-life vehicles or
from recycling plants,
or replace it with such parts.
•
USA AND CANADA. USA and Canada: Air
conditioner evaporator parts must be certified
and identified according to SAE J2842
standards.

Infotainment system and an-
tenas
The antennas for the infotainment system are
mounted at different locations in the vehicle:
—
on the inner side of the window;
—
on the inner side of the rear side windows;
—
on the inner side of the windscreen;
—
on the roof of the vehicle.
The antennae integrated on the inner side of the
chrys- talis are made of thin metallic wires.
The antennae on the inner side of the glass can be
damaged by rubbing objects or by the use of
corrosive or acid-containing products.
•
Do not stick adhesives on top of metal wires,
e.g. in the bezel area.
•
Never clean the antennae with corrosive
products.

If an infotainment system is retrofitted, it must be
compatible with the antenna amplifier fitted as
standard in the vehicle. Otherwise, the amplifier
may be damaged.
Protection of components
Component protection allows the lawful assembly
or replacement of components and control units
by a specialist workshop.
In the following situations, component protection
prevents components supplied ex-factory from being
used without restriction outside the vehicle:

Fitting to other vehicles, e.g. after theft.
—
Use of components outside the vehicle.
If a message about component protection is
displayed in the instrument cluster display or in
the infotainment system display, please contact a
specialist workshop.
Disposal of
used
batteries,
accumulators and electronic
devices
Used batteries and accumulators
Used batteries and accumulators as well as
electronic devices must be collected and disposed
of separately by the end user, recognisable by
the
crossed-out wheeled bin symbol .
As an end-
user, you are legally obliged to return used
batteries and accumulators.
Batteries and accumulators containing heavy metals
are marked with the symbols Hg (mercury), Cd
(cadmium) and/or Pb (lead). Heavy metals can be
harmful to human and animal health and can
accumulate in the environment. To avoid these
consequences, always separate these products
from other waste and return them properly.

In EU member states and many other countries,
used batteries and chargers can be returned to
Volkswa- gen dealers.

Used electrical and electronic devices
Your vehicle contains electrical and electronic
devices, such as the SD card for the navigation
system or radio remote controls. You can recognise
them by the
crossed-out
wheelie bin symbol
.
Used devices with this symbol must be separated from
normal household waste and must also be disposed of
separately in accordance with legal regulations. You can
hand in these devices at the
