on and off
Introduction to the topic
The reversing assistant camera mounted at the
rear of the vehicle provides the driver with a
clear view to the rear and assists with parking.
Intelligent parking system technology cannot
overcome the limits imposed by physical laws
and only works within the limits of the systems.
Failure to take this into account can lead to
accidents, serious injuries and damage to the
vehicle.
WARNING
Automatic engagement when driving forward
The parking aid engages automatically when the
vehicle is slowly approaching an obstacle in the
forward direction.
Switching on and off
— Switch the function on or off in the infotainment
system settings → p. 27.
If the driver switches off the parking aid, it will no
longer switch on automatically.
In the following circumstances, the auto-magnetic
connection will be available again:
— The vehicle has been accelerated to more
than approx. 15 km/h (9 mph) and then
driven back below this speed.
— OR: the ignition has been switched off and
switched on again.
— OR: The parking lock P has been changed to a
gear ratio.
If the vehicle detects an obstacle, the display
in the infotainment system is activated first.

— Engage reverse gear.

Variant 1: Reversing assistant without parking mode

— The reversing assistant is switched off when
reverse gear is engaged.
Rear View Assistant (Rear
View)
Operation
The reversing assistant shows the area behind the
vehicle on the display of the infotainment system.
Depending on the mode selected and the vehicle's
equipment, the guidance lines make it easier to see
to the rear.
