4.17 Starting
the
Generator {Manual
Start
Only)
Starting
procedure
CAUTION
Personal
injury or machine damage hazards. Starting the generator with equipment
attached can damage the generator or the equipment. Unexpected equipment
start-up can cause
personal injury.

Disconnect all equpment from the generator before starting it.
Follow the procedure below to start the machine.
1.
Turn the engine switch (h) to the CHOKE position (or the RUN position if the
engine is warm or the ambient temperature is high).

Pull the recoil starter (f) slowly until you feel resistance.
3.
After you feel resistance, return the recoil starter to its original position and pull
quickly.
The engine will start.
4.
If you started the engine with the engine switch
in
the CHOKE position, allow the
engine to run for
20-30
seconds and then turn the engine switch to the RUN
position.
5.
Use the LED changeover switch (n) to switch to display voltage on the LCD. A
reading
of
120V indicates that the generator is operating properly.
Troubleshooting
If the engine does not start after several attempts, repeat the starting procedure
with the engine switch turned to the RUN position.
If the engine still does not start,
refer to the
Troubleshooting chapter.
