5.7 Power Steering System - Bleeding Instrucons
Reference the bleeding instrucons provided by the Teleex™ owner’s manual, which is included in your
Owner’s Porolio. Use them in conjuncon with the instrucons and diagram below to bleed the steering
system. This should be done annually only by a trained technician; any faulty parts should be replaced
immediately.
5.7.1 Step 1
• With the Power Purge turned "OFF", aach helm
ng and leads.
• Aach one of the leads to the bleeder valve on the
Power Assist Pump.
• Open the bleeder valve using a 5/8" wrench.
• Turn the Power Purge unit "ON".
• Watch for air bubbles in the clear hydraulic lines. Once
no more bubbles can be seen and there is a steady
ow of hydraulic uid through the lines, allow the
Power Purge to run for an addional 60 seconds.
• The helm is now full of uid. Turn Power Purge "OFF".
Close bleeder valve and dis-connect line from the
Power Assist Pump. Place dust cap back on bleeder valve.
5.7.2 Step 2
• Aach the four lines to each of the bleeder valves on the steering cylinders.
• Open each of the four bleeder valves.
• Turn Power Purge "ON".
• Turn the steering wheel slowly 20 mes clockwise, then slowly 20 mes counter-clockwise.
5.7.3 Step 3
• With Power Purge turned "ON", move both engines through their full range of moon
(This will help remove any air bubbles sll trapped inside the cylinders).
• As a nal precauonary step, pull on the engines rmly at the ends of their normal range of moon
(This will also help to insure all of the air is out of the cylinders).
5.7.4 Step 4
• Turn the ignion key for the port engine "ON". This will turn the Power Assist Pump "ON”.
• Repeat "Step 2".
• If no more bubbles can be seen then the bleeding is complete. Turn the Power Purge 'OFF". Close all
four bleeder valves. Disconnect the four lines from the cylinders and both lines from the helm.
Remove the helm ng and replace it with vent cap.
• If bubbles are sll present in lines, then bleeding was not successful. Repeat enre process.
