6.6 Baery Selecon
World Cat supplies the original baeries onboard your vessel. For this model we use both Group 27 and
Group 31 baeries. In the event of a failure, replacements must be of equal size and specicaons
(see below):
6.7 Baery Care
Baeries should be secured in a non-metallic tray and insulated boots should cover the terminals. Depending
on the style of baery you choose, inspect the electrolyte and perform roune maintenance as suggested
by the manufacturer. Remove corrosion from the terminals quickly to prevent failure. Use a s brush and a
soluon of water and baking soda to remove corrosion, then grease the terminals to prevent further build-up.
Be careful to clean up thoroughly to avoid contaminang the electrolyte.
When servicing the baeries, follow the safety procedures shown below and work to avoid electrolyte spills
which can harm you and your vessel.
6.7.1 Safety
• Use protecve clothing and accessories such as aprons, gloves, and eye wear to protect yourself
while servicing baeries.
• Avoid cigarees, open ames, and sparks. Baeries can produce toxic and explosive gases;
therefore, store or charge them in a well-venlated space.
• Keep baeries out of the reach of children and pets.
6.7.2 Exposure
If you are exposed to the electrolyte soluon, follow these procedures and seek immediate medical aenon.
EXTERNAL - Flush with large amounts of water for contact with the skin. If severe irritaon occurs or it
contacts your eyes. Seek medical aenon immediately.
INTERNAL - Consume large amounts of water or milk, coupled with milk of magnesia, a beaten egg, or
vegetable oil. Seek medical aenon immediately.
The guidelines above are basic and do not alleviate the owner of responsibility should an accident occur.
Use good judgment and common sense to avoid an accident.

!!! CAUTION
When reconnecng your baeries, always connect
the red cable to the posive terminal and the
black cable to the negave terminal (in that order).
Reversing them can damage your electrical system
and create the potenal for electric shock.
!!! CAUTION
Never disconnect a baery while underway. Doing
so may result in damage to your boat’s electrical
system and the engine’s alternator.
!!! DANGER
All baeries contain an electrolyte, commonly sulfuric acid, which is a causc and volale
chemical. Use extreme cauon when charging or servicing.
