Table A6.2 Problems after Software Update
Symptom Cause Remedy
An error occurs before starting a
download, disabling the
download.
The selected download file is not for the
selected field device.
Check SOFTDWN_ERROR in the resource
block and obtain the correct file.
An error occurs after starting a
download, disabling the
download.
You attempted to update the device revision
by downloading a file which is not an original
file.
Check SOFTDWN_ERROR in the resource
block and obtain the original file.
The selected field device does not support
software downloading.
Check whether the option code /EE is
included in the model and suffix codes of the
device.
The voltage on the fieldbus segment falls
below the specified limit (9 volts).
Check the capacity of the field bus power
supply used and the voltage at the terminal.
There was an error in a checksum or the
number of transmission bytes.
Check SOFTDWN_ERROR in the resource
block and obtain the correct file.
The download takes far longer
than expected or fails frequently.
The fieldbus segment is noisy.
An error occurs after activation.
Check the noise level on the fieldbus
segment.
Transient error caused by the internal
resetting of the field device
Check whether communication with the field
device has recovered after a while.
The new software does not work
after the activation.
The file of the current revision was
downloaded.
Obtain the correct file.
Failure of the memory in field device, etc. Check SOFTDWN_ERROR in the resource
block, and re-try downloading.
If fails, place a service call.
TA0102.EPS
The download tool does not allow download
with same software revision.
Check the setting of the download tool.
