Averaging (Averaging)
You can take exponential or moving averages of the numeric data. The averaging function is effective when
reading of the numeric display is difficult due to fluctuations. This occurs when the fluctuation of the power supply
or the load is large or when the input signal frequency is low.
Turning Averaging On and Off (Averaging)
Measurement Functions Used in Normal Measurement
You can select whether to average values. When you enable averaging (ON), the AVG indicator at the top of the
screen illuminates.
Harmonic Measurement Functions
• If averaging is turned on, and the averaging type is exponential averaging, averaging is performed on
harmonic measurement functions.*
• Even if averaging is turned on, if the averaging type is moving average, averaging is not performed on
harmonic measurement functions.*
* In addition to the harmonic measurement functions, averaging is also applied to Ufnd, Ifnd, Pfnd, Sfnd, Qfnd,
λfnd, and Φfnd.
Averaging Type (Averaging Type)
You can use exponential (Exp) or moving averages (Lin).
Exponential Averaging (Exp)
With the specified attenuation constant, the numeric data is exponentially averaged according to the equation
below.

D
n
: Displayed value that has been exponentially averaged n times. (The first displayed value, D

D
n–1
: Displayed value that has been exponentially averaged n – 1 times.
M
n
: Measured data at the nth time.
K: Attenuation constant (select from 2 to 64)
Moving Average (Lin)
The specified average count is used to compute moving averages according to the equation below.

Attenuation Constant or Average Count (Averaging Count)
• If the averaging type is exponential averaging, set the attenuation constant to a value within the following
range.
2 to 64
• If the averaging type is moving average, set the average count to a value within the following range.
8 to 64
