Engine Oil Pressure
If the engine oil pressure is low (between 4 and 7 psi), the ECM will take the following action:
• Turn on the malfunction indicator light.
• Turn on the low oil pressure light.
• Shut the engine down after 30 seconds.
The operator can cycle the key off and then restart the engine. If the pressure is still low
it will again shut the engine off after 30 seconds. This will allow the operator to get the
machine off of the ice.
If you have an engine warning or shutdown due to low engine oil pressure, you must take
the following actions:
• Verify the correct oil level and oil grade in the engine.
• If the condition persists, contact a mechanic for engine service.
Engine Overheat
High Coolant Water temp indicator light.
The engine ECM turns on the high coolant water temp light when the engine reaches a
temperature of 205°F for 10 seconds or more. The light has been set articially low to
warn the operator of a possible overheat condition and give as much time as possible to
get off the ice prior to a coolant overow condition or an engine shutdown condition.
The light may also come on during engine startup following a recent resurfacing or ice
maintenance, if the engine was shut down at full engine RPMs and not idled down for the
required 30 to 60 seconds to allow the coolant to circulate thus cooling the engine. If this
(heat soak) happens run the engine at idle and the light will go out immediately after the
coolant temperature goes below 200°F. To prevent this from occurring in the future, ALL
operators should be instructed to idle the engine for 30 to 60 seconds immediately prior
to parking the machine as recommended on the operating instruction decal.
The engine has built within it a high coolant water temperature shutdown feature. It
operates in 2 stages.
• At 220°F it will set a code, turn on the malfunction indicator light and
limit throttle opening.
• At this point the high coolant temp light will be on.
• At the second level 235°F, it will set a code; turn on the malfunction
indicator light and shutdown the engine after 60 seconds.
