DESCRIPTION:
Before
the
test
begins,
SMDTEST
goes
through
the
start-up
sequence
described
in
the
INTRODUCTION
TO
SMD
DIAGNOSTICS.
Any
errors
during
that
procedure
cause
SMDTEST
to
abort.
SMDTEST
is
actually
a
pair
of
random
tests.
Which
test
is
performed
during
any
invocation
of
SMDTEST
depends
upon
the
value
of
P?rameter
2.
TEST
1:
The
single-sector
~est
is
a
good
test
of
random
seeks.
Initially,
a
queue
is
formed
of
128
elements.
Each
element
is
initialized
to
a
random,·
unique
disk"
address.
Associated
with
each
queue
element
is
a
unique
source
buffer
and
a
unique
destination
buffer.
The
source
buffers
are
initialized
with
random
data.
Each
lap
proceeds
as
follows:

written
to
the
disk
address.
This
is
a
single-sector
write.
