1 Thecoolanttemperaturemustbebetween 158℉ and203℉ (70℃ and95
℃). Donotmovethecraneathighspeedwhenthecoolanttemperature
islessthan 158℉(70℃).
2 Donotoperatetheengineathighspeedswithoutaloadforextended
periodsoftime.
Donotmovethecraneathighspeedswithaheavyloaduntiltheengine
coolanttemperatureisaminimum158℉(70℃).
3 Whenthecoolanttemperatureisintheyellowarea,between 203℉ and
212℉(95℃ -100℃),theengineistoohot.Parkthecrane.Operatethe
engineataRPMimmediatelyaboveidletohelpcooltheengine.Or,as
youmove,putthetransmissioninalowergearrangetodecreasethe
loadontheengine.
Donotstoptheengineimmediatelywhentheenginecoolanttemperatureis
abovethemaximumlimit.Ifyoustoptheengine,thecoolanttemperature
increasessuddenlyanddamagetotheengineoccurs.Operatetheengine
ataRPMimmediatelyaboveidletohelpdecreasethecoolanttemperature.
4 Whenthecoolanttemperaturegaugepointstotheredarea,between
between212℉ and248℉ (100℃ -120℃ ), continuously,itshowsthatthe
engineisabovelimits.Ifyoustoptheengine,thecoolanttemperature
increasessuddenlyanddamagetotheengineoccurs.Operatethe
engineataRPMimmediatelyaboveidletohelpdecreasethecoolant
temperature.
5 Whenthecoolanttemperaturegoesbacktothegreenoryellowarea,do
theitemsthatfollow:
l
l Examinetheengineareaforleaks.
l
l Examinethefunctionofthethermostat.
l
l Checkthecoolantlevel.
l
l Checkthefanbeltfordamage.
l
l Makesurethatthefanbeltisnottooloose.
Caution
Donotaddalargequantityofcoldwatertotheengineiftheenginecoolant
temperatureisabovethemaximumlimit.Thiscankillorblindyouand
causedamagetotheengine.
