8.5.3 Information for Voltage / Current Usage
The power on condition corresponds to the Draft DIN IEC 65C / 155 / CDV of June 1996. The average
current usage by the FSM4000 on the bus is 10 mA. During a fault condition the FDE-Function (Fault
Disconnection Electronic) integrated in the instrument assures that the current usage cannot exceed 13 mA.
The upper value of the current is electronically limited. The voltage on the bus must be within the range of
9–32 Volt DC.
8.5.4 System Installation
The use of PROFIBUS-PA Profile B, V3.0 assures that the instrument is no only interoperable, i.e.,
instruments from, different manufacturers can be physically connected to the same bus and be
communication capable, but are also interchangeable, i.e., instruments from different manufacturers can be
exchanged with one another without requiring a reconfiguration in the process control system. In order to
assure this exchangeability, ABB provides for system installation 3 different GSD-Files (GSD= Instrument
Database). The user can decide at installation if he requires the complete functionality of the instrument or
only a portion. The change is made using the parameter ID-number selector, which can only be changed
acyclically.
The GSD-Files which are available are described in the following table. The manufacture specific GSD-File
ABB_078C is on the CD included with the shipment. The standard-GSD-Files PA1397xx.gsd are available
on the home webpage of Profibus International – http://www.profibus.com → Libraries → PA- Profiles for
download. The GSD-File ABB_078C as well as the "Data Link Description PROFIBUS PA" for FSM4000 (Part
No. D184B093U30) are also on the CD (Part No.: D699D002U01) included with the shipment. This CD can
be reordered at any time at no charge.
