8.2 USE OF IPS
CAUTION:
Risk of PSPIX system malfunction. Use the PSPIX system in combination with the IPs supplied by the
ACTEON group.
CAUTION:
Risks of image degradation. You must handle and use IPs carefully in order to guarantee an optimal
image quality and maximize lifespan. You must also ensure that you transport and store them in the box
supplied with the PSPIX system.
• The IPs are reusable. Exposure to X-rays does not age the IPs, as they are resistant to hundreds, or even
thousands of exposures. Their lifespan depends on the precautions taken during their handling and use.
Please observe the information given below to maximize lifespan.
The blue side of the IP is the active side. Protect the active side of the IP:
- from scratching, wear and tear due to friction or mechanical deterioration.
- fi ngerprints, stains, dirt, dust particles etc...

Risks of image degradation
• Handle an IP with the same care as you would handle a photographic fi lm, a CD or a DVD.
• Only handle IPs by their edges.
• Never use tweezers, pliers or other mechanical implements to take and/or handle IPs.
• Do not touch the active surface of the IP with fi ngers or nails.
• Do not leave fi ngerprints, stains, dirt or dust on the active side of the IP.
• Protect the active side of the IP from scratches and any other form of scratching due to friction or
mechanical degradation.
• Avoid unnecessarily folding the IP.
• Do not exert pressure on the IP with any object that is likely to leave a mark or print on the active side.
• Do not clean them in an autoclave
• Potential scratches, stains, soiling, fi ngerprints or dust on the active side of the IP may affect the
image quality and inhibit its interpretation.
WARNING:
Risk of poisoning The IP must not come into contact with the patient’s saliva or any type of body fl uid.
Use a hygiene bag to protect the IP.
