4. Ask the patient to wear glasses if typically worn (distance-vision glasses) or contact
lenses, not reading glasses. If patient wears progressive glasses, ask the patient to look
the chart through the top-side part of the lenses.
5. Ask the patient to focus central characters of the chart (the letters near to the central
lens). See the following picture:
6. Intermediate Vision Exam procedure is the same as refraction measurements (see
Chapter 10.8 – Measurement).
Keep pupils within the display during focusing and measuring.
For some patients, because of their pupil distance, the binocular measurement at 66cm
might be not possible. In those cases it is highly recommended to take the measurement
monocularly.
