Planning Your Application Program

Name Read Module Name
Description Returns the module name from a specified ADAM-
5000/TCP system.
Syntax $aaT (cr)
$ is a delimiter character.
aa (range 00-FF) represents the 2-character hexadeci-
mal Modbus network address of the ADAM-5000/
TCP system you want to interrogate. T is the
command for reading Module Name.
(cr) is the terminating character, carriage return (0Dh).
Response !aaFFFFFFFF(cr) if the command is valid.
?aa(cr) if an invalid operation was entered. There is
no response if the module detects a syntax error,
communication error or if the specified address does
not exist.
! delimiter character indicating a valid command was
received.
? delimiter character indicating the command was
invalid.
aa (range 00-FF) represents the 2-character hexadeci-
mal Modbus network address of an ADAM-5000/
TCP system. FFFFFFFF indicates the I/O slot which
ADAM-5080 module is in.
(cr) is the terminating character, carriage return (0Dh).
Example command: $01T(cr)
Response: !01FF80FFFF(cr)
ADAM-5080 is plugged in slot 1 and the command
requests the system at address 01h to send its mod-
ule name.
