2.4 GPS Antenna Installation
The antenna is best mounted on top of the aircraft generally on the outer skin above the cockpit. This location
gives best coverage for satellites, maximizes signal input and reduces signal dropout during turns and climbs.
The antenna may be mounted directly on the top skin of the aircraft (above the cockpit) or in some Helicopter
installation on the Vertical Stabilizer. The antenna does not need an external ground plane. See below (figure #
35) for installation information and dimensions. The Antenna should be installed more than 6inchs from any
other antennas or receivers’ due to interference.
