This section includes information on the laboratory facilities
required to support the operation of the instrument.
Exhaust System
The plasma operates at a temperature of approximately 6,000 °C,
(11,000 °F) with up to 1,000 Watts of power (6,480 kilojoules per
hour). The instrument exhaust fumes can be noxious or corrosive.
The Agilent 4100 MP-AES instrument chimney must be connected to
an exhaust system. The exhaust system must include an exhaust fan,
be ducted to an external vent and provide a minimum flow of
3 m
3
/min (106 cfm) at the intake point.
The exhaust system installation must comply with any rules and/or
regulations that may be imposed by the local authorities responsible
for control of facilities and fixtures in the work place.
