Operator Handle and Unit Interlock 7-5
Locking Horizontal Operating Handles in the OFF/
O
Position
Some units utilize a horizontal operating handle. The horizontal operating
handle can be locked in the OFF/O position by putting the shackle of the lock
through the open slotted area to the left of the operator handle. See Figure 7.6.
Figure 7.6 Locking a Horizontally Mounted Operating Handle in OFF/O Position
Locking units with Operating Handles in the ON/I Position
To lock the operator handle in the ON/I position, drill out the pre-located
hole to 3/8” (9.5mm) diameter maximum, and insert the shackle of the lock.
The following instructions assume that the handle is in the ON/I position.
• Units with small handles, the pre-located hole is in the upper portion of
the operator handle assembly.
• Units with medium and large operator handles, the pre-located hole is
underneath the operator handle on the handle assembly.
• Units with a horizontally mounted handle, the pre-located hole is on the
left-hand side of the handle assembly.
See Figure 7.7, Figure 7.8, Figure 7.8 and Figure 7.9
ATTENTION
Locking an operating handle in the ON/I position may be
in conflict with local codes and emergency shut down
requirements.
