0.6 Target Audience and Structure of the System Manual HBT_20321104_00/B0_en
Part 1: System Overview
Part 1 contains information on the expansion of the systems, interfaces, network-
ing types, terminals, supplementary equipment and AIMS (Ascotel Information
and Management System).
Always refer to Part 1 whenever you need basic information, for instance the table
of interface types or the definition of a networking technology term.
Part 2: System Functions and Features
Part 2 provides an overview of the system's functions and features. Knowing all
about these functions and features is an essential requirement for providing cus-
tomer-oriented planning and implementation of systems.
System Functions
This chapter is based on the principles of the networking philosophy discussed in
Part 1 and features the different types of internal and external numbering plans
for private and public networks.
Other system functions:
Subscriber identification and display using CLIP (Calling Line Identification Pres-
entation) and CNIP (Calling Name Identification Presentation)
Routing Elements and the way they interact in distributing incoming and out-
going calls to network and user-network interfaces
Routing data services to destination tables or individual destinations
Logging and output of call data and call charge data
Numerous examples are used to illustrate this complex subject and to make it eas-
ier to understand.
Features
Each subscriber has the possibility of activating a multitude of features in day to
day telephony operations. Depending on the terminal type connected, this is done
using function keys and menu-driven key sequences. Most of these features can
be activated using */# procedures even on terminals with the lowest level of fea-
tures. The table in "Features Overview", Page 2.435 provides an overview of the
features available with the different terminal types.
