Trouble on an Accessory
TROUBLE ON AN ACCESSORY
This procedure should be used only if the trouble appears on an accessory. If there
is trouble with an accessory, see if there is an auxiliary power unit connected to the
control unit Auxiliary Power socket. Also, see if there is a voice terminal power
supply connected to a 34-button deluxe voice terminal (see Figure 38). If there is an
auxiliary power device (auxiliary power unit or voice terminal power supply), check
it first using Test A. Whether you use Test B or Test C depends upon the accessory
having trouble.
●
Use Test B if the accessory is connected directly to a voice terminal:
—
Headset
—
Hands-free unit.
●
Use Test C if the accessory is not connected directly to a voice terminal:
—
—
—
—
Power failure transfer telephone
Music-on-hold equipment
Paging system
Extra-alert devices (uses one or more bells or horns to alert workers in noisy
or remote areas to calls).
TEST A: FOR AUXILIARY POWER DEVICES
Locate the device you have and perform that test.
Auxiliary Power Unit
Step 1.
Make certain that the auxiliary power unit is correctly plugged into the
control unit (see Figure 37) and that power is being supplied from the ac
outlet for the auxiliary power unit. Use a lamp, radio, or similar device to
check the ac outlet.
