Trouble on More Than One Voice Terminal
TROUBLE ON MORE THAN ONE VOICE TERMINAL
Use this procedure only if you found the same trouble on at least two voice termi-
nals. If all of your voice terminals are dead, and you have read the section entitled
“E. All Voice Terminals Have No Lights and No Dial Tone” in the “BASIC TROU-
BLE TESTS” section of this manual without finding the trouble, call your equip-
ment supplier for help.
This procedure will help you find the cause of trouble that appears on two or more
voice terminals. The trouble is probably caused by the control unit, the expansion
module, the modular line cords, or the local telephone company equipment.
TEST A: CONTROL UNIT TEST
Step 1.
Make certain you have your notes describing the trouble and its location.
Step 2.
Disconnect extra-alert accessories at the control unit. If the trouble is
cleared, go to “TROUBLE ON AN ACCESSORY.” If the trouble persists,
leave the accessory unplugged and continue.
Step 3.
Go to one of the voice terminals on which the trouble appears. Try to
make the following calls:
Place an outside call using one of the outside line buttons. Then place

an outside call using a second outside line button (if you have one). If
the trouble appears on both outside lines, make certain that you add
this information to your notes.
Place an intercom call from the voice terminal. Write in your notes

whether the trouble appears on the intercom call.
Step 4.
Go to the other voice terminals on which the trouble appears. Try to
make the two calls you just attempted from the first voice terminal. Add
the results of these calls to your notes.
