6.4 Adjustment and servicing procedures
6.4.1 Coolant
6.4.1.1 Coolant level check
– Check the levels of the coolant in the radiator
cooler. The levels show in transparent tubes fitted
at the radiator top tank. The levels should
normally be at the bottom of the filler pipes as
they go into the tanks.
– Add coolant, if necessary. The location of the
radiator filler cap (1) is shown in figure above.
– Use PARCOOL EG as coolant.
6.4.1.2 Replacing the coolant
Consult the Engine Operation Manual and section
6.5.3 for coolant specifications.
Drain
– To drain coolant from system, remove drain
plugs. Drain plugs are located at the right- and
left-hand side under the unit and open the drain
cocks (1).
– Completely drain the entire cooling system.
– Use a proper drain pan.
Flush
– Flush twice with clean water. Used coolant must
be disposed of or recycled in accordance with
legislation and local regulations.
– Using the Atlas Copco Instruction book,
determine the amount of PARCOOL EG required
and pour into the radiator top tank.
– It should be clearly understood that proper
cleaning reduces contamination risks.
– In case of ‘other’ coolant residues inside the
system, the coolant with the lowest properties
influences the quality of the ‘mixed’ coolant.
Fill
– Before filling the system, close the drain cocks
and tighten all plugs.•
– To assure proper operation and the release of
trapped air, run the engine until normal engine
operation temperature is reached. Turn off the
engine and allow to cool.
– Recheck coolant level and add coolant if
necessary.
