1.6.1 Biological and chemical hazards

Y MAY CONTAIN INFECTIOUS CLINICAL SAMPLES
AND/OR TOXIC OR CORROSIVE CHEMICALS. THE POTENTIAL
FOR HAZARDOUS EXPOSURE EXISTS DUE TO THE
POSSIBILITY OF SPILLING THESE MATERIALS. HAND, EYE,
AND CLOTHING PROTECTION SHOULD BE WORN AT ALL
TIMES.
General Precautions
Good laboratory practices should be followed and all procedures for use of the BD PrepMate™
Automated
Accessory should be strictly observed. Failure to follow recommended procedures as
outlined in this manual may compromise performance.
Preparation of samples using the BD PrepMate™ Automated Accessory should be performed
only by trained laboratory personnel.
Dispose of all used reagents and any other contaminated disposable materials following
procedures for infectious or potentially infectious waste. It is the responsibility of each laboratory
to handle solid and liquid waste according to their nature and degree of hazardousness and to
treat and dispose of them (or have them treated and disposed of) in accordance with any
applicable regulations.
