9.1.TypesofScheduledInspections—GeneralVisualInspections
Thislevelofinspectionismadefromwithintouchingdistance,unlessotherwisespecied.Amirrormaybenecessary
toenhancevisualaccesstoallexposedsurfacesintheinspectionarea.Theinspectionismadeundernormally
availablelightingconditionssuchasdaylight,hangarlighting,ashlight,ordrop-lightandmayrequireremovalor
openingofaccesspanelsordoors.Stands,ladders,orplatformsmayberequiredtogainproximitytothearea
beingchecked.
9.2.TypesofScheduledInspections—DetailedInspections
Availablelightingisnormallysupplementedwithadirectsourceofgoodlightingatanintensitydeemedappropriate.
Inspectionsaidssuchasmirrors,magnifyinglenses,etc.maybenecessary.Theexaminationislikelytomake
extensiveuseofspecializedinspectiontechniquesand/orequipment.Intricatecleaningandsubstantialaccessor
disassemblyproceduresmayberequired.
10.ScheduledInspections—ZonalInspections

Referto429-MM,Chapter6fortheidenticationandcompletedescriptionofthezones.
ThezonalinspectionsareGeneralVisualInspections(GVI)whicharepartofthescheduledinspectionprogramofthe
helicopter.Theseinspectionsensurethatallsystems,powerplantinstallations,components,structures,andElectrical
WireInterconnectionSystems(EWIS)aresufcientlyvisuallyexaminedforcorrectinstallationandgeneralcondition.
Thezonalinspectionsmustbedonewithinarms-reachdistance.Theonlyinspectionaidsnecessaryareaashlight
andamirror.Youmustremovetheseats,carpets,accesspanels,covers,doors,cowlings,etc.inthezone,as
necessary,tocompletetheinspection.Youmustsufcientlylifttheinsulationmaterialtodothestructuralinspection
whennecessary.
Whenperformingazonalinspection,youshouldaddressanyequipment,metallicorcompositestructure,and/or
wiringinstallationsinthezone,asapplicable,payingparticularattentiontothefollowingitems,asshowninT able1
throughTable3.
11.ScheduledInspections—OptionalEquipmentInspections

ScheduledoptionalequipmentinspectionsareestablishedforoptionalBHTkitsrequiringscheduled
inspectionstoensurecontinuingairworthiness.
Performandrecordthescheduledoptionalequipmentinspectionsasapplicable.
12.ScheduledInspections—IntervalTolerance
DONOTAPPLYTHESETOLERANCESTOPARTSWITHALIMITEDAIRWORTHINESSLIFE

TheBHTapprovedtoleranceforscheduledinspections,specialinspections,andoverhaulintervals,unlessotherwise
stated,is10%oruptoamaximumof100hoursoperatingtime/30dayscalendartime,whicheverisless.The
tolerancesareestablishedformaintenanceschedulingconvenienceonly.
Scheduledinspections,specialinspections,orscheduledcomponentsinspectionsrequiredbeyondthestated
tolerancesmustbeapprovedbyProductSupportEngineering.
Theapprovalofaninspectionintervaltolerancebyagoverningaviationauthorityistheresponsibilityofthe
owner/operator.Pleasecontactyourgoverningaviationauthoritytorequestascheduledinspectionintervaltolerance.
Thetolerancewouldbeestablishedformaintenanceschedulingconvenienceonly.Ifatoleranceisapplied,the
subsequentinspectionintervalwillbeadjustedtore-establishtheoriginalinspectionschedule.
RefertothePW207D1/D2MaintenanceManual(P/N3071602)forinspectionandoverhaultolerances.Whenan
inspectioniscompletedearly,subsequentinspectionswillbeadvancedasrequiredtonotexceedthescheduled
inspectioninterval.Thefollowingprovideexamplesofwhenanhourlyinspectionandcalendarinspectionare
completedearly:
