CHAPTER1FORADDITIONALINFORMATIONANDREQUIREMENTSPERTAININGTOCRITICAL
PARTS.
Thischapterprovidesallofthetimelimitintervalsandrequirementsforscheduledinspections,scheduledcomponent
inspections,specialinspections,andconditionalinspectionsapplicabletotheModel429helicopter.
Theinspectionintervalsprovidedinthischapterarethemaximumpermitted,andareapplicableonlytoBellapproved
parts.Donotexceedtheseintervals.Theowner/operatorisresponsibleforincreasingthescopeandfrequency
oftheinspectionsasnecessarytomakesurethehelicopterisoperatedsafelyduringallunusuallocalchanges,
suchasenvironmentalconditions,helicopteruse,etc.Contactyourlocalaviationauthoritytorequestchangesto
therequirementsinthischapter.
NOTE
Thecomponentinspectioninterval(orthefailuretoprovideaninspectionintervalforacomponent)does
notconstituteawarrantyofanykind.Theonlywarrantyapplicabletothehelicopteroranycomponentis
thewarrantyincludedinthePurchaseAgreementforthehelicopterorthecomponent.
TheinspectionintervalshavebeendeterminedbyuseoftheMaintenanceSteeringGroup–3rdT askForce(MSG-3)
methodology(429-A-05-40-00-00A-028A-A).ChangestotheinspectionintervalswillalsofollowtheMSG-3process
andwillbeintroducedbyarevisiontotheInitialMaintenanceRequirementsReport(IMRR),whichwillthen
beincorporatedintothischapter.
Calendarandhourlyinspectionsarethoroughvisualinspectionstodeterminetheairworthinessofthehelicopterand
itscomponents.Qualiedpersonsmustdotheinspectionsinaccordancewithqualitystandardaircraftpracticesand
theapplicablemaintenancemanuals.BHTconsidersthatitismandatorytoobeyallapplicableAlertServiceBulletins
(ASB)andAirworthinessDirectives(AD).
Componentoperatingtimerecordsarenecessaryforcomponentsthathavescheduledmaintenanceproceduresthat
aredifferentfromthoseoftheairframe.Itistheresponsibilityoftheowner/operatortoupdatetheHistoricalService
Records(HSR)fortheapplicablecomponentandtodothenecessarymaintenanceprocedures.
FortheinspectionrequirementsofinstalledBHTkitsnotcoveredinthischapter,refertotheapplicableInstallation
Instruction(II)orsupplementin429-MM,Chapter99.
Allofthenecessaryaccesspanels,covers,doors,cowlings,etc.toberemovedoropenedforeachinspectionare
providedinthischapter.Referto429-MM,Chapter6toidentifyandlocateeachoftheseandreferto429-MM,
Chapter52or429-MM,Chapter53,asapplicable,fortheremovalandinstallationprocedures.
8.Inspections-Exceptions
Thismanualdoesnotincludeintervalsforspecicinspectionssuchasthecompasscalibration,pitotstatictest,etc.
Thesespecicinspectionintervalsareprovidedbyyourgovernmentregulatoryauthority.Refertotheirrequirements
forthesespecicinspections.
9.Inspections-Responsibilities
Theowner/operatorofthehelicopterisresponsibleforthemaintenancedoneonthehelicopter.Itisthe
owner/operator’sresponsibilityto:
Establish,maintain,andreviewthelogbooksfordiscrepancies.
MakesurealloftheAlertServiceBulletins(ASB),AirworthinessDirectives(AD),andspecialinspectionsare
completedwhenrequired.

forthekitsnotcoveredinthischapter.
