5.2. FLUE GAS EXTRACTION
The ue gas discharge must be in accordance with the applicable regulations. Flue gas pipes
should not be connected together with exhaust pipes from any other combustion appliance(-
Figure 2). It is not permitted to discharge the ue gases into closed and / or semi-enclosed
spaces such as: garage, narrow passages or corridors, underpasses or any other similar prem-
ises. If the chimney connection is not suitable, the installation must be carried out in accord-
ance with the requirements described above (point 3.1).

The chimney must be earthed in accordance with the applicable regula-
tions. (Earthing connection may be required by local legislation).
The earthing must be independent of the combustion unit.
As for dimensions and the material from which it is made, a chimney must comply with stand-
ards UNI 9615- 9731, UNI 10683 - EN1856-1.
Chimneys that are in poor condition and / or made of unsuitable material (asbestos, galvanised
sheet metal, etc., with a rough or porous surface) are inconsistent with the law and endanger
the operation of the boiler.
Smoke can be discharged through a traditional chimney (see picture below) provided that the
following rules are followed:
Check the state of chimney maintenance. Contact the chimney sweep for proper mainte-
nance and / or renovation.
The ue gas outlet can be routed directly to the chimney only if it has maximum dimen-
sions of 20 x 20 cm or a diameter of 20 cm and is equipped with an opening for inspection.
In case the chimney is of larger dimensions, it is necessary to insert a stainless steel pipe
(with the required diameter), which is correctly insulated.
Make sure that the connection to the chimney is properly sealed.
Avoid contact with combustible material (such as wood charcoal, etc.), and in any case
insulate them with re-resistant material.
When using connections between the pellet boiler and the chimney, it is mandatory to use
elbows with cleaning doors(Figure 3). Using elbows with cleaning doors allows regular clean-
ing without having to dismantle the pipes. The exhaust gases in the chimney connection are
slightly below pressure, so it is mandatory to check that the doors for cleaning the ashes are
