1. Shut down the 5000-XT.
See "Shutting Down" on page 11

2. Insert a charged battery pack.
3. Turn on the 5000-XT.
When No Power Source is Available — To resolve a low-battery
condition when no power source is available:
Log trace (
see "Logging Menu" on page 44
) and turn off the 5000-
XT (
see "Shutting Down" on page 11
).
When the 5000-XT Cannot Restore from Shutdown — To resolve a low-
battery condition when the DPM lacks the power to restore from sleep mode:
1. Do one of the following:
Insert a charged battery (
see "Battery Replacement" on
page 49
).
Plug the computer into an external power source (
see "Charging
Batteries" on page 46
).
Calibrating the Battery
Note: Even if a battery pack is heavily used, it should not be nec-
essary to calibrate it more than once a month.
Note: It is not necessary to calibrate a new battery pack.
Note: Calibrate a battery pack under the following conditions:
When battery charge displays seem inaccurate
When there is a significant change in battery run time
When the battery has been unused for one month or more
1. Charge the battery.
See "Charging Batteries" on page 46

2. Discharge the battery fully through normal use.
3. Recharge the battery.
