8. Check hydraulic hoses.
Hydraulic oil under pressure can penetrate body tissue causing serious
injury and possible death. When troubleshooting a hydraulic system
for leaks, always use cardboard or wood as a detector. DO NOT USE
YOUR BARE HANDS. If you are injected with hydraulic oil or any other
uids, immediately seek treatment by a doctor trained in the treatment of
penetrating uid injuries.
a. Fully raise the loader arm, install and secure the safety support.
b. Follow all of the hoses, line and tubes from the control valve to their end (Items 2, 3, 4
and 5, Figure 4–8). Inspect the connections and look for signs of leaking hydraulic uid,
wear or damage.
c. Carefully inspect both sets of quick couplers (Item 1, Figure 4–8) to make sure that they
are not damaged or leaking. Make sure to check for signs of leakage or damage to the
drive motors and to their hydraulic connections.
NOTE: Item 3 is the track extension cylinder located underneath the machine, but
protected by the belly pan. If any leakage from underneath the machine is noticed,
do not use the machine and have it inspected and repaired by your servicing
dealer.
