Troubleshooting
9-2-1. Recovery action to be taken for such a nozzle that is unable to eject ink-jet droplets
Please verify the followings when any nozzle is not ejecting ink droplets.
Items to be checked Description Remedy Document
Is the cap contaminated?
When the cap is contaminated, it cannot fully
contact the head, which would lead to
suction failure.
Clean the cap
Refer to "7-1-2. Cleaning
the nozzle guard, wiper,
exhaust cap, and suction
cap >>P.177".
Is there any deposit of ink
around the nozzle
surface?
When the surrounding area of nozzle
surface is contaminated, it could lead to
ejection failure since the wiper cannot clean
the nozzle surface properly. Or, it could
reduce the adhesion between the nozzle
and cap, thereby causing ink suction failure.
Cleaning the
surrounding area
of nozzle surface
Refer to "9-2-4. Cleaning
the surrounding area of
nozzle surface >>P.259"
Is the wiper contaminated?
When the wiper tip is contaminated, it could
lead to ejection failure since the wiper
cannot clean the nozzle surface properly.
Clean the wiper
Refer to "7-1-2. Cleaning
the nozzle guard, wiper,
exhaust cap, and suction
cap >>P.177".
Is there any indication of
scar or deformation on the
wiper?
When the wiper has any scar or
deformation, it could lead to ejection failure
since the wiper cannot clean the nozzle
surface.
Replace the
wiper
Refer to "9-2-7. Replacing
the Wiper >>P.282".
Is the wiper cleaner
contaminated?
If the wiper cleaner is contaminated, residual
dirt on the wiper may prohibit the wipers
cleaning function.
Replacing the
wiper cleaner
Refer to "7-1-3. Replacing
the wiper cleaner >>P.187".
Is the wiper cleaner dried?
If the wiper cleaner is dry, it may prohibit the
wiper's proper function to wipe clean.
Replacing the
wiper cleaner
Refer to "7-1-3. Replacing
the wiper cleaner >>P.187".
Is the flushing foam
floated?
If the flushing foam is not placed
appropriately, it may touch the nozzle
surface to stop ejection from the nozzle.
Replace the
flushing foam
Refer to "7-1-4. Replacing
the flushing foam >>P.189".
Is the ink accumulated on
the flushing foam?
If an ink accumulates on the flushing foam,
the ink may touch the nozzle surface to
prevent ink from ejecting.
Replace the
flushing foam
Refer to "7-1-4. Replacing
the flushing foam >>P.189".
Is the waste ink tube bent
in the middle?
The bent waste ink tube will stop the waste
liquid flow, thereby disabling ink suction
operation of the head cleaning function.
Verify the waste
ink tube
Refer to "6-2-1.
Confirmation and disposal
of waste ink >>P.125".
Is the tip of the waste ink
tube touching the waste
tank bottom?
If the tip of the waste ink tube immersed in
liquid, it will prevent the smooth flow of liquid,
It can disable the ink suction operation of the
head cleaning function.
Verify the waste
ink tube
Refer to "6-2-1.
Confirmation and disposal
of waste ink >>P.125".
Is the tube correctly
connected to the head?
If they are loosely mated, it may allow air to
enter into the head section during the head
cleaning operation, to cause non-ejection
condition of the nozzle.
Verify connection
between the
head and the
tube
Refer to "9-2-6.
Replacement of print head
>>P.264".
Is the ink pouch properly
attached to the cartridge?
If the ink pouch is not properly installed, the
cartridge cannot fully wind it, and fails to
supply enough ink to the head.
Install an ink
pouch
Refer to "7-1-1.
Replacement of ink pouch
with a new one >>P.173".
