RTU Open Controller System
The RTU Open controller is factory--mounted in the 549J
unit’s main control box (see Fig. 44), to t he l eft of the
CTB. Factory wiring is completed through harnesses
connected to the CTB. Field connections for RTU Open
controller sensors will be made at the PCB connectors on
the RTU Open controller board. The fa ctory--installed
RTU Open controller includes the supply--air temperature
(SAT) sensor. The out door air temperature (OAT) sensor is
included in the FIOP/acce ssory EconoMi$er2 package.
The RTU Open controller is an integrated component of the
Bryan t roof top unit. Its intern al application progr amming
prov id es optimum perfo r mance and ener g y eff icien cy. The
RTU Open controller enables the unit to run in 100%
stand--alone control mode, or a Third Party Building
Auto matio n Sys tem (BAS). On--boar d DIP s w itches allow
you to select your protocol (and baud rate) of choice among
the four most popular protocols in use today: BACnet*,
Modbus

, Johnson N2 and LonWorks**. (See Fig. 43.)
Refer to Table 23, RTU Open Controller Inputs and
Outputs for locations of all connections to the RTU Open
controller board.
NOTE: The RTU Open controller acts as an intelligent
imbedded thermostat. A room thermostat cannot be used
with the RTU Open controller.
