1.6 Intended Use
The wave-scan 3 (7403) is designed to measure Orange Peel & Distinctness-of-Image (DOI) on
high-gloss surfaces. The wave-scan 3 dual (7400) includes an additional Infrared Super-Lumi-
nescent Diode (IR-SLED) to support an extended measurement range; it can also measure on
semi-gloss surfaces.
By placing the base plate of the unit onto the surface, pressing the Operate button on the
front and moving the instrument over the surface, it measures the properties of the surface and
processes, stores and displays the measured data.
The instrument can be connected via USB or WiFi to a PC to read or write data. The capacitive
display allows an easy configuration and usage of the instrument.
