MASONRY CONSTRUCTION
The air conditioner is installed the same way as the
Wall Installation section with a few exceptions. Follow
all local and national building codes.
The cabinet can be secured to the masonry by using
masonry nail or masonry anchor screws.
Another installation technique would be to construct a
frame of 2 x 4s and install the frame between the wall
opening and the cabinet. The frame must be securely
anchored to the masonry wall opening.
Use a lintel to support masonry above wall opening.
Install exterior cabinet support brackets.
OPERATION
An electronic-type control is used on your Carrier air
conditioner. The electronic control consists of a control
panel and a remote control. Both the control panel or
the remote control can be used to set cooling and fan
modes and adjust the desired temperature. See
Fig. 26. Other additional features are provided.
REMOTE CONTROL AND
PANEL CONTROLS
Either the remote control or the control panel on the
air conditioner can be used. The battery of the remote
control will need to be installed before it can be used.
To operate the room air conditioner with the remote
control, aim the remote control to the signal receptor.
(See Fig. 25.) The remote control will operate the air
conditioner at a distance of up to 23 feet when pointing
at signal receptor of the unit.
■ TURN UNIT OFF/ON — Press the POWER button
on the remote control or the ON/OFF button on the
control panel.
NOTE: To switch from Celsius to Fahrenheit, press the
UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW buttons on the con-
trol panel (not the remote control) at the same time.
■ COOLING MODES — Each time the MODE button
is pressed, three different operation modes are
changed in sequence - Cooling, Fan Only, or Energy
Saving. Press the MODE button to select the cooling
mode.
In Cooling mode, the air conditioner will run and
provide cooling. The amount of cooling can be adjusted
with the FAN SPEED button on the control panel. The
fan speed will be indicated by the lighted symbol on
the control panel. See Fig. 26. To change the fan speed
on the remote control, press the HIGH, MID or LOW
buttons. If the fan speed is set to Auto mode, the fan
speed adjusts automatically from low to high based on
the setting of the thermostat and the actual room
temperature.
In Fan Only mode, the fan operates to circulate the air
in the room, but there is no cooling operation. This
mode is used to circulate the air in the room when
cooling is not required. The amount of circulation can
be adjusted with the FAN SPEED button on the con-
trol panel. Auto cannot be selected in Fan Only mode.
NOTE: When changing modes during operation, the
unit may not respond immediately. Wait 3 minutes
before attempting to switch modes or restarting the
unit.
■ ENERGY SAVING MODE — When the air condition-
ing unit is Energy Saving mode and the Auto fan
speed is selected, the air conditioner will automati-
cally switch from Cooling to Fan Only mode when cool-
ing is not required. When the air conditioning unit is
Energy Saving mode and the low, medium or high fan
speed is selected, the air conditioner will run in Cool-
ing mode if the room temperature is 2 degrees higher
than the thermostat setting. When the room tempera-
ture is lower than 66 F (19 C), the unit will turn off (no
cooling or fan).
The Energy Saving mode can be selected from the
remote control by pressing the POWER SAVER
button.
■ FAN SPEED — The air conditioner Fan mode can be
set to High, Medium, Low, or Auto. Press the FAN
SPEED button on the control panel to select the fan
speed. The fan speed will be indicated by the lighted
