Function:

Numeric variable = numeric expression }
Character variable = character expression

Assigns the value on the right side of the equal (=) sign to the variable on the
left.
Explanation:
1) A numeric expression corresponds to a numeric variable, and a character
expression corresponds to a character variable.
2) LET can be omitted.
