Cisco CATALYST 2960 - Understanding Cisco Configuration Engine Software; The Cisco Configuration Engine is network management software that acts as a configuration service for automating the deployment and management of network devices and services (see Figure 4-1). Each Configuration Engine manages a group of Cisco devices (switches and routers) and the services that they deliver, storing their configurations and delivering them as needed. The Configuration Engine automates initial configurations and configuration updates by generating device-specific configuration changes, sending them to the device, executing the configuration change, and logging the results.; Configuration Service; The Configuration Service is the core component of the Cisco Configuration Engine. It consists of a configuration server that works with Cisco IOS CNS agents on the switch. The Configuration Service delivers device and service configurations to the switch for initial configuration and mass reconfiguration by logical groups. Switches receive their initial configuration from the Configuration Service when they start up on the network for the first time.

Command History
Usage Guidelines A cause (all, bpduguard, and so forth) is defined as the reason that the error-disabled state occurred.
When a cause is detected on an interface, the interface is placed in the error-disabled state, an operational
state similar to link-down state. If you do not enable the recovery for the cause, the interface stays in the
error-disabled state until you enter the shutdown and the no shutdown interface configuration
commands. If you enable the recovery for a cause, the interface is brought out of the error-disabled state
and allowed to retry the operation again when all the causes have timed out.
Otherwise, you must enter the shutdown and then the no shutdown commands to manually recover an
interface from the error-disabled state.
Examples This example shows how to enable the recovery timer for the BPDU guard error-disabled cause:
Switch(config)# errdisable recovery cause bpduguard
This example shows how to set the timer to 500 seconds:
Switch(config)# errdisable recovery interval 500
You can verify your settings by entering the show errdisable recovery privileged EXEC command.
