Checking Hydraulic Fluid • Critical Fastener Checks
Checking the Hydraulic Fluid
Check the hydraulic sump tank uid level. Correct uid level is important
for proper system operation. Low uid level can cause pump damage.
Hydraulic uid expands as its temperature rises. Therefore, it is preferable
to check the uid level at operating temperature (after approximately 30
minutes of truck operation). The ESX truck requires a visual check of the
uid reservoir. To check the uid level you must remove the front cover.
You should have a trained and authorized mechanic check the uid level
for you. Do not over ll.
Check the condition of the hydraulic uid (age, color or clarity, contamina-
tion). Change (replace) the oil as necessary.
Critical Fastener Checks
Fasteners in highly loaded (critical) components can quickly fail if they
become loosened. Also, loose fasteners can cause damage or failure
of the component. For safety, it is important that the correct torque be
maintained on all critical fasteners of components that directly support,
handle, or control the load and protect the operator.
Check critical items, including:
• Drive axle mounting • Overhead guard
• Drive and steer wheel mounting • Tilt cylinder mounting & rod ends
• Upright mounting & components • Load backrest extension
