Whileitisnotnecessarytoremovetheelectronicsmodulefromthevehicle,accesstoindividualcomponentsmaybe
easierwiththemoduleremoved.
ELECTRONICSMODULEREMOVAL
1.Disconnectthebatterycablesanddischargethecontrollerasinstructed.SeeWARNINGS“Toavoid
unintentionallystarting...”and“Afterdisconnectingthebatteries,wait90seconds...”inGeneral
Warningsonpage1-1.
2.Removethebatteriesfromthevehicletoprovideenoughroomtoaccessthecontroller(8)(Figure15-8,Page
15-11).SeeBatteryReplacementonpage16-15.
3.Removethebolt(11)thatsecurestheelectronicsmoduletothebatterybucket.
4.Pullelectronicsmoduleforwardanddisconnecttheheavygaugewiresfromthecontrollerbyremovingthe
threescrews(9).
5.Disconnectthe16-pinconnector,4-pinconnector,andspadeconnectorsfromthecontroller.
6.Removethethreeself-tappingscrews(10)thatholdthecontrollertothecomponentmountingplate(14)and
removethecontrollerfromthevehicle.
7.Removetwonuts(3)ontopofthesolenoid(5)postsandremovethewiresfromtheposts.
8.Disconnectthespadeconnectorsonthefrontofthesolenoid.
9.Disconnectthe6-pinconnectorandallotherleadsfromtheonboardcomputer(OBC)(15)andthetwowiresfrom
Tow/Runswitch.
10.Lifttheelectronicsmodulefromthevehicle.SeefollowingWARNING.
WARNING
•Shortingofbatteryterminalscancausepersonalinjuryordeath.
–Donotplacecomponentmountingplatedirectlyontopofbatterieswhenremovingorinstalling
plate.
–Removeplatefromvehiclecompletely.
ELECTRONICSMODULEINSTALLATION
1.Returnelectronicsmoduletoitslocationinvehiclebutleaveittiltedforward.
2.Completeconnectionstothecomputer,thecontroller,theT ow/Runswitchandthesolenoidpertheelectrical
schematics.SeeWiringDiagramsonpage12-2.
3.Tightenboltsonthecontrollerto9ft-lb(12.2N·m).
4.Tightennutsonthesolenoidto6.4ft-lb(8.7N·m).
5.Setelectronicsmoduleinplaceandsecurewithbolt(11)(Figure15-8,Page15-11).Tightenboltto40in-lb(4.5
N·m).
6.Installthebatteriesandbatterycablesintheiroriginallocations.SeeBatteryReplacementonpage16-15.
