WARNING
•Besureallwireconnectionsatthereceptacleandthefuselinkarecleanandtight.
•Donotrockorbendtheplug.Toconnectthechargerplugtothevehiclereceptacle,grasptheplug
handleandpushtheplugstraightintothereceptacle(Figure16-9,Page16-21).
•DonotpullontheDCcord(Figure16-10,Page16-21).Donottwist,rockorbendtheplug.To
disconnectthechargerplugfromthevehiclereceptacle,grasptheplugbythehandleandpullthe
plugstraightoutofthereceptacle.
•Donotconnectachargertothereceptacleifthechargercord,plug,orthevehiclereceptacleis
broken,damagedinanymanner,ordoesnotmakeagoodelectricalconnection.Fireorpersonal
injurycanresult.Haveitreplacedbyaqualiedservicepersonimmediately.
•Failuretofollowtheseinstructionscouldresultindamagetothechargercord,theplug,and(or)
thevehiclereceptacle.
•Donotuseachargerif:
–Theplugistoolooseordoesnotmakeagoodconnection.
–Theplugandreceptaclefeelhotterthannormalduringcharge.
–Theplugpinsorreceptaclecontactsarebentorcorroded.
–Theplug,receptacle,orcordsarecut,worn,haveanyexposedwiresoraredamagedinanyway.
•Usingthechargerwithanyoftheabovesymptomscouldresultinare,propertydamage,personal
injury,ordeath.
NOTE:Whentemperaturesfallbelow18.3°C(65°F),batterieschargedinunheatedareasshouldbeplacedon
chargeassoonaspossibleafteruse.Batteriesarewarmestimmediatelyafteruse,andcoldbatteries
requiremoretimetofullycharge.
InsertthechargerDCplugintothevehiclereceptacle.Thechargerwillturnontwototensecondslater(Figure
16-9,Page16-21).
WheninsertingtheDCplug,aligntheraisedguideontheplugwiththeguideslotinthereceptacleandpush
straightinslowly.
ClubCarbatterychargersinteractwiththevehicle’sonboardcomputer.Thecomputerrecordstheamountofenergy
consumedduringvehicleuse.Whilethechargerispluggedin,thevehicle’scontrolcircuitislockedout,preventing
operationofthevehicleaswellasthepossibilityofconsequentdamagetothechargerandthevehicle.
Oncethelockoutisactuated,thechargerturnson.Theonboardcomputerthenrecordstheamountofenergybeing
returnedtothebatteries.Whentheoptimumamountofenergyneededtoreplenishthebatteriesisreturned,the
chargerwillshutoff.Thecontrolcircuitlockoutremainsactivateduntilthechargerplugisdisconnectedfromthevehicle.
