2.Loosenlugnutsonbothfrontwheelsandraisefrontofthevehiclewithachainhoistoroorjack.Placejack
standsunderthefrontaluminumrailsofthevehicleframeandlowerthevehicleontothejackstands.
3.Removewheel.
4.Removebolts(17)andmoverackandpiniontoallowclearanceforbolt(19)(Figure7-18,Page7-15).
5.Removebolts(11and19).
6.Removethecontrolarm(6).
7.Inspectthebushings(7)andsleeves(8and9)inthecontrolarmandreplacethemifnecessary.
CONTROLARMINSTALLATION
1.Installthecontrolarminreverseorderofremoval.Tightenthecontrolarmbolts(11and19)to30ft-lb(41N·m)
(Figure7-18,Page7-15).Tightenthreerackandpinionmountingbolts(17)to22ft-lb(30N·m)
2.Installthewheelsandadjustthewheelalignmentasinstructedonpage7-10.
SHOCKABSORBERREMOVAL
1.Inspecttheshockabsorbersforuidleakageatthepointwheretheshaftenterstheshockabsorberbody.
Leakingshockabsorbersshouldbereplaced.
2.Removetheupperbolt(18)(Figure7-18,Page7-15).
3.Removethelowerbolt(10).
4.Removetheshockabsorber.
SHOCKABSORBERINSTALLATION
NOTE:Wheninstallingshockabsorbers,makesurefrontshockshaveidenticalpartnumbers.
1.Installtheshockabsorberbyreversingtheremovalprocedure.
2.Tightentheboltsto16ft-lb(21N·m).
