Example showing the attachment of a
chain saw for tree maintenance to the car-
ry strap of the user
Secure the carry strap with a suitable carabi-
ner to the hanging mechanism on the chain
saw P.3, item1, position(18).
The ability to attach the chain saw directly to
the carry strap reduces the risk of the equip-
ment becoming damaged when moving
about in the tree. The chain saw should
always be switched off when it is directly
attached to the carry strap.
The chain saw should only be attached to the
recommended hanging mechanisms on the
carry strap. These may be in the middle (front
or rear) or at the sides. Wherever possible,
the chain saw should be fitted to the centred
rear midpoint of the carry strap in order to
keep it away from climbing ropes and to
keep the weight positioned centrally below
the spine of the user.
