Sharpening the saw chain
Special tools are required to sharpen the saw chain; these guarantee that the cutting of the
chain occurs at the correct angle and the correct depth. We recommend that you have the saw
chain sharpened by a professional.
Replacing the air filter
►P.5, item8
– Loosen the locking for the upper cover(18).
– Pull the cover for the air filter and spark plug(9) on the back upwards and remove it.
– Remove the air filter.
– Replace the cleaned or new air filter.
– Replace the cover for air filter and spark plug(9) and tighten the locking for the upper
cover(18) again by hand.
Cleaning/replacing the spark plug
►P.5, item8
– Loosen the locking for the upper cover(18).
– Pull the cover for the air filter and spark plug(9) on the back upwards and remove it.
– Remove the spark plug connector(19) and unscrew the spark plug with a suitable tool.
– Check the electrode for discolouration. Standard colour: light brown
– Check the electrode distance. Correct distance: 0.635 mm
– Remove rust accumulations from the electrode with a wire brush.
– Insert cleaned or new spark plug and tighten by hand.
– Tighten hand-tightened spark plug slightly with a suitable tool. Do not tighten spark plug
too tight, since otherwise the threads will be damaged.
– Replace the spark plug connector(19) firmly on the spark plug.
– Replace the cover for air filter and spark plug(9) and tighten the locking for the upper
cover(18) again by hand.
Adjusting the carburetor
The carburetor is set at the factory and should only be adjusted later if it is absolutely neces-
sary.
The carburetor has three adjusting screws on the left side of the device:
• L for setting a lower motor speed.

Replace the spark plug only with a new spark plug of the same type (►Spare parts–
p.127).

To clean the spark plug, use only wire brushes with brass bristles. Bristles of any other
material will damage the electrode!

The adjustment of the carburetor should only be done by an expert!
