HF SSB Transceiver 9323/9360/9390/9780 Technical Service Manual 6-1
6 Channel additions
Channel additions can be programmed via the microphone socket using an IBM
compatible PC, via the microphone keypad, or cloned from a second transceiver.
Details on how to program, using an IBM compatible PC or clone information
from another transceiver, can be found in the XP User guide supplied with the XP
software.
If the TxD or TxE options are fitted, channels can be programmed using the
microphone keypad in conjunction with the control panel. Details of these options
are:
• TxD option—prevents an operator from entering new transmit frequencies. The
TxD option allows the operator to enter (new) receive frequencies or relocate
existing transmit/receive frequencies to other channel locations. An internal
Transmit Program Enable (TPE) link must be fitted in order to program
transmit frequencies.
While the TPE link is fitted, the normal functions of the transceiver are
disabled. To resume normal functions, the TPE link must be removed and the
transceiver switched off then on again.
• TxE option—when the internal TPE link is fitted, it allows an operator to
program any transmit and receive frequencies without disabling the normal
functions of the transceiver. This allows the link to remain permanently fitted if
desired.
Without the TPE link fitted, the operator can delete unprotected channels but
cannot delete any protected channels. A channel is protected when you set the
software to indicate that the channel cannot be deleted without specific options.
This stops you from accidentally deleting the protected channels.
When the TPE link is fitted with the TxD or TxE option, protected channels can
be deleted or changed.
