ST450EC
v1.11
2.3 Maximum cable length
The maximum cable length depends on the input impedance of the system that is connected
with the ST450EC. The sum of the cable resistance and the input impedance results in the total
load resistance and should not exceed 300 Ω.
Example:
The total load resistance is max. 300 Ω (at 24Vdc).
Using an input impedance of 150 Ω, the max. load resistance should not exceed 150 Ω.
The max. cable resistance per wire is 75 Ω, both wires combined results in 2x 75 Ω = 150
Ω.
If a cable is used with a specification of 20Ω/km, the max. cable length is: 75 / 20 = 3.75
km.
2.4 Power supply
The power supply requirements for the ST450EC sensing head is stated in the technical
specifications.
To maintain optimal use and reliability under heavy duty industrial circumstances, the
following requirements should be taken into account:
The power supply of the control module should be a valid CE approved design with a
maximum degree of protection against overload and power failure.
In heavy duty industrial applications, the use of good power supply filtering, a
power backup system (UPS) and/or an emergency power supply is recommended.
