1.1 Measuring principle
The ST450EC sensing head is available in several versions for the detection of numerous
gases with different gas concentrations. The sensing head features an electrochemical gas
sensor using 2 or 3 electrodes (depending on the gas type).
The behaviour of an electrochemical gas sensor varies per sensor and is specified in the
specification sheet of each sensor. This sheet includes the following specifications:
Sensitivity for the target gas
Cross sensitivity for other gasses
Temperature range
Air humidity
Pressure range
Life expectancy
Calibration frequency
Linearity
Reaction time
Warm up time
Storage conditions
An electrochemical sensor is not suitable for continues detection of
background levels. Background levels or continues detection should be
avoided.
