5 Troubleshooting
5.1 Warning and Alarm Messages
The LEDs on the front of the drive and a code in the display signal a warning or an alarm.
A warning indicates a condition that may require attention or a trend that may eventually require attention. A warning remains
active until the cause is no longer present. Under some circumstances, motor operation may continue.
If an alarm occurs, the drive has tripped. The trip removes power to the motor. It can be reset after the condition has been cleared
by pressing [Reset], or through a digital input (parameter group 5-1* Digital Inputs). The event that caused an alarm cannot damage
the drive or cause a dangerous condition. Alarms must be reset to restart operation once their cause has been rectified.
The reset can be done in 4 ways:
By pressing [Reset].
Via a digital input with the Reset function.
Via serial communication.
By resetting automatically using the Auto Reset function, see parameter 14-20 Reset Mode.
N O T I C E
After a manual reset pressing [Reset], press [Auto On] or [Hand On] to restart the motor.
If an alarm cannot be reset, the reason may be that its cause has not been rectified, or the alarm is trip-locked.
Alarms that are trip-locked offer extra protection, and the mains supply must be switched off before the alarm can be reset. After
being switched back on, the drive is no longer blocked and may be reset as described above once the cause has been rectified.
Alarms that are not trip-locked can also be reset using the automatic reset function in parameter 14-20 Reset Mode. If a warning and
alarm is marked against a code in
Table 469, this means that either a warning occurs before an alarm, or it can be specified whether
it is a warning or an alarm that is to be shown for a given fault. This is possible, for instance, in parameter 1-90 Motor Thermal Protec-
tion. After an alarm or trip, the motor carries on coasting, and the alarm and warning flash on the drive. Once the problem has been
rectified, only the alarm continues flashing until the drive is reset.
Whether a warning precedes an alarm and whether the drive suspends operations (trips) are defined in Table 469. An X marked in
Table 469 means that action occurs. A warning precedes an alarm.
